The lemon verbena(Aloysia citrodora) is a species of the verbenaceae family, native to South America (Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia and Peru). It was introduced to Europe by the Spanish and Portuguese in the 17th century. In the Algarve, it is called "bela-luísa" and in other parts of Portugal its common name is "limonete".
Lúcia-Lima is known for its digestive and carminative properties, which reduce the development of intestinal gas. It can be considered a nervous system relaxant, acting on migraines, nervousness, agitation and insomnia. It can also stimulate appetite and have an antispasmodic effect on the digestive system. It can also help relieve gastrointestinal or menstrual cramps, as well as the sensation of vomiting. It can also promote good digestion and strengthen the immune system.
Lemon verbena tea can help with weight loss, cellulite, fever and blood pressure. It can be an excellent ally in the fight against urinary infections, bad breath and can be used as an insect repellent, as well as a flavoring in fresh drinks. Method of preparation:
*Recommended water temperature: 100º
*Infusion time: 5 to 10 minutes.
*Recommended quantity: 1 teaspoon per person. Approximately 2 grams per cup (240ml).
