Bulgur, also known as bulgur, is a whole grain made from wheat. It originated in the Middle East and is widely used in Mediterranean cuisine.
It is rich in B vitamins, fiber, proteins and minerals, making it a very nutritious food and an excellent alternative to rice or pasta.
It is also rich in minerals such as iron and phosphorus, as well as vitamins A and B (B3 and 6). The health benefits are immense. Firstly, Bulgur is rich in fiber, which helps regulate intestinal transit and increases the feeling of satiety.
In addition, it is rich in magnesium, contributing to the normal functioning of muscles and the nervous system and also reducing tiredness and fatigue; and rich in iron, being important for the formation of blood cells and helping to transport oxygen, preventing states of anemia.
Method of preparation:
Heat a pan with a drizzle of olive oil and the chopped/crushed garlic.
Add the Bulgur and sauté lightly.
Add the hot water and stir.
After boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for about 6 minutes.
Turn off the heat, cover and leave to stand for another 6 minutes.
Use a fork to loosen the grains.
Bulgur can be eaten hot or cold, as a side dish or as a main course. However, despite all its nutritional benefits, it is not recommended for celiac patients as it contains gluten.
