Burdock is a plant with medicinal properties that is also known as Baldranha, Greater Burdock, Giant's Ear, Pegamassos Herb, Pegamassa and Carrapicho-de-Carneiro. Burdock root is rich in nutrients, including fiber and mineral salts (calcium and iron). Burdock's popularity dates back to ancient times when it was used for medicinal purposes. According to historical records, the Greeks used crushed burdock leaves to treat skin diseases thanks to their antibacterial potential. In addition to its use in traditional medicine, burdock is one of the plants most commonly used in culinary dishes in Brazil and Japan.

Burdock tea contains purifying and detoxifying properties that help treat hepatitis, cirrhosis, as well as kidney and gallstones. By helping to purify the blood, burdock root helps to reduce uric acid levels.

Burdock tea is commonly used to treat gastrointestinal and skin problems. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory ally with soothing potential that relieves symptoms caused by indigestion, constipation, gastritis and renal colic. As well as promoting the proper functioning of the gallbladder, burdock tea can help to reduce accumulated fluids in the body (fluid retention). It thus acts as a liver detox tea.

In addition to its best-known uses, such as external use, burdock can also be used for other purposes, such as treating the liver in cases of hepatitis and cirrhosis, as well as gallstones. Its use as a depurative to purify the blood is also well known, and its roots are used as a decoction. The roots also treat rheumatic diseases, being an excellent anti-inflammatory to treat arthritis; kidney and digestive problems.
