Hemp seeds are the seed of the marijuana plant (cannabis sativa), but they don't contain THC, so they are completely safe to use.
Hemp seeds are a superfood with properties that will make you healthier.
Hemp protein - 25% of hemp seeds are protein, which makes them an excellent supplement for sportspeople.
Essential amino acids - hemp seed contains 21 amino acids, 9 of which the human body cannot produce. Hemp oil provides all the essential amino acids.
Eating hemp seeds helps the production of serum albumin and globulin. And why is the production of these two compounds important?
Serum albumin is the most abundant albumin in human plasma. Among other functions, serum albumin is responsible for transporting hormones and fatty acids to the right places.
Globulin - contains most of the antibodies in the blood.
So when the body suffers some external aggression, these two components need to be in shape to be able to fight off external threats and help maintain the correct albumin and globulin levels.
The best way to ensure that your body has the essential amino acids to produce globulin is to eat foods rich in globulin proteins, such as hemp seeds.
Fatty acids are essential for growth, vitality and good mood. Hemp seeds are composed of 35% fatty acids, made up of 55% linoleic acid and 25% alpha-linoleic acid. The human body cannot produce these two fatty acids.
Hulled hemp seeds, despite having less fiber than unhulled seeds, manage to have more amino acids.
Linoleic and alpha-linoleic acids are essential for converting food into energy. A lack of these two fatty acids in our bodies can cause cardiovascular problems, skin problems, dry skin, kidney problems and cardiac arrhythmia. Linoleic acid also helps reduce cardiovascular problems, increases HDL (good cholesterol), helps prevent breast cancer, depression and premenstrual symptoms.
Hemp seeds are also rich in antioxidants, minerals, including phosphorus, calcium and iron, vitamins A, C, D, E and fiber.
There are 5 general ways to eat the seeds:
-Infused
-Crushed
-Hemp flour
-Hemp oil
-Hemp milk
Their nut-like flavor makes them a great addition to many recipes. Hemp protein should be eaten raw so that its essential fatty acids don't turn into trans-fatty acids, which are harmful to health.
They can be sprinkled on salads, smoothies, yogurt and cereals. They can also be used in protein powder, butter or ice cream, or added to tofu, bread, cakes and waffles.
However, one of the simplest ways to consume hemp protein is in smoothies or juices. Hemp protein makes excellent smoothies, mixed with fruit or yogurt. It also mixes well in cooked soups when they are already warm and in pâtés.
Once again, due to its high content of essential fatty acids, it should not be heated because heat will destroy them. However, it can be added to all foods removed from heat to improve their taste and nutritional value.
The recommended daily dose for the general population is 20g a day, approximately 2 tablespoons. For sportspeople, it can be up to 40g a day.
