Oregano is an aromatic, herbaceous herb from the Lamiaceae family, adaptable to damp soils and exposed to high temperatures. In Greek translation, the word "oregano" derives from the expression "joy of the mountain" made by joining the words"oros" (mountain) and"ganos" (joy). This expression would be related to the influence of oregano on the pasture for cows, which strongly contributed to improving the taste of their meat. This plant may have the following names: common oregano, wild oregano and common oregano. Oregano is directly linked to the goddess Aphrodite because it attracts happiness and love to those who have it nearby.
The smell and taste of oregano are caused by its essential oils. The more sun you collect, the better the aroma. The taste of oregano is spicy, slightly sweet and very refreshing. It has an intense smell.
Oregano has a penetrating flavor that is essential for flavoring gazpacho, pizzas, tomato salads, meat fillings, stews, grilled meats and snails.
