The orange tree is a medium-sized, rounded citrus tree from the Rutaceae family. According to scientific records, the first orange trees appeared more than 7000 years ago, probably in countries such as India, China and Vietnam. It was around the 10th century that China began the first exploitation of this tree for medicinal purposes. Orange flowers, leaves and peels are commonly used to prepare infusions, culinary dishes and as a natural repellent. In some countries, the orange is a luxurious fruit for consumption by the elite. In addition to its industrial cultivation, the orange tree is one of the most popular citrus trees in Asia for decorating gardens because it remains green all year round. Asians have great admiration for orange trees because they are pure and aromatic.
In general, the sweet aroma of orange blossoms attracts various insects, including bees. The pollen extracted promotes the natural production of high-quality honey. As a rule, an orange tree can live for up to 60 years, although there are trees that can live for more than 90. It is thought that the prolonged age is due to the conditions to which the orange tree is exposed. The only parts of the orange tree that can be used for consumption are the leaves, flowers and fruit. Worldwide, the United States and China are two of the largest producers of oranges. In Portugal alone, more than 200,000 tons of oranges are produced each year.
Here's how to prepare your cold tea: Pour two tablespoons of tea into 1.5 liters of boiled water, let it cool and then put it in the fridge. If you want to add sugar to your tea, you should do so while it's still hot. For a healthier option, add 1 dessert spoon of stevia (don't let it steep for more than 3 minutes as it will make your drink too sweet). You get a wonderful ICE TEA without any added sugars or artificial preservatives.
Orange Blossom's main therapeutic indications are anxiety, mild depression, stomach pain, insomnia, vomiting, nervous tension, menstrual pain, coughs and gastrointestinal spasms.
