The Olive tree is a mythical tree from the slow-growing Oleaceae family, which is predominant in Portugal. This tree is known for its religious symbolism and for the fact that it has survived for several hundred years. According to historical records, the famous "Oliveira do Mouchão" is considered to be the oldest existing olive tree in Portugal, dating back some 3,350 years. This olive tree is about 3 meters high and is located in Cascalhos, in the parish of Mouriscas, in the municipality of Abrantes. This tree has deep roots that can reach up to six meters, making it easier to absorb nutrients from the soil. Olive leaves are pointed and very resistant to weather changes.

Olive leaf is indicated for reducing cholesterol and controlling blood pressure.

The medicinal properties of the olive leaf are diverse and it is capable of contributing to the prevention of diseases, so it can be used as an antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal and antiparasitic agent.

Olive leaf is also used as the main ingredient in tea, which is commonly used in weight loss diets to promote weight reduction. But due to its numerous properties, other benefits can be obtained from drinking this tea.

The dried leaves can be used for tea and are rich in nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, copper and zinc. They have a high concentration of fatty acids, dietary fiber, proteins, minerals, bioflavonoid agents and antioxidants.
