Lemon balm is a plant native to Western Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean. Today, it is in Europe that Lemon Balm is predominantly grown, thanks to the many regions with a temperate climate. The plant has been used for medicinal purposes for around two centuries. But that's not all. It was discovered that Cidreira was an excellent ally in honey production due to its strong influence on the productivity of the hives. To this end, honey producers rubbed Cidreira leaves inside the hives in order to increase honey production. In addition, this plant was grown near the hives to increase pollination and attract other animals. This was because the high number of flowers was beneficial for the quality and production of the honey. They also helped to locate the hives.

Cidreira, with the scientific name Melissa officinalis, is a plant also popularly known as cidreira, citronete and melissa, and is widely used to treat digestive problems and as a calming plant to ensure a good night's sleep.

Lemon balm has calming, diuretic, analgesic, antimicrobial, healing, tonic, sedative, relaxing, antineuralgic, expectorant, antiviral, antispasmodic, sudorific, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties.

As it contains a high number of vitamins and minerals, it can help strengthen the body's immunity. For cases of insomnia and night-time discomfort, it is advisable to drink Cidreira tea about 30 minutes before bedtime. Due to its influence on the body's energy.
