    Gotu Kola Plant

Teas | Medicinal Plants | Aromatic Herbs | Tisanes | Infusions

Centella asiatica is a vine with anti-inflammatory, diuretic, calming, relaxing, invigorating and bactericidal properties. This invasive plant may also go by the following names: Asian Sparkle, Gotu Kola, Antanan, Tiger Grass, Pegaga or Brahmi. Suitable for damp soils with a strong absence of light, Centella Asiatica is one of the ingredients most commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine treatments, as well as in traditional Chinese medicine. The leaves of the Gotu Kola are the only parts used because they contain a high amount of antioxidants, vitamins and essential minerals. They are often associated with positivity and balance in the body.

Originating in Southwest Asia, Centella Asiatica is known to many people for its smooth, circular leaves. Today, Tiger Grass is a plant that can be easily found in different countries such as Mexico, India, Colombia and Australia. In terms of its medicinal properties, Centella Asiatica is an excellent natural calming agent, hence its use to relieve anxiety and nervousness. It can also help improve blood circulation, strengthen the body's immunity and increase collagen production. Centella asiatica tea is recommended for the treatment of the following conditions: dermatitis, insomnia, sore throat, hemorrhoids, stretch marks, venous insufficiency, tired legs, rheumatism and memory loss.

It is widely used as an ingredient in cosmetics for its regenerative properties, as well as helping to stimulate collagen production when used internally and topically on the skin. It also improves the healing time of a wound by stimulating cell mitosis, making it useful in the treatment of burns, scars, psoriasis and eczema. Traditionally, it was used to treat leprosy, as it penetrated the layers of the Lepra baccilli so that it could be destroyed.

This tea can act as a blood vessel protector. It can be applied as an anti-cellulite, metabolism stimulant and depurative.
