In traditional medicine, Damiana is considered a 100% natural aphrodisiac plant, ideal for preparing infusions.
Damiana is a relatively small shrub that produces small, aromatic flowers. It blooms from early to late summer and is followed by fig-like fruits. It is said that the shrub has an odor similar to chamomile, due to an oil present in the plant. The leaves were traditionally brewed into a tea that was used by people native to Central and South America for its aphrodisiac effects. Spanish missionaries first recorded that Mexican Indians drank Damiana tea mixed with sugar to increase sexual potency.
Damiana is a plant native to some subtropical countries in Central and South America, as well as Africa. For hundreds of years, this plant has been used as a natural solution to treat bladder infections, as well as to increase male and female sexual potency.
The Aztecs used it as a remedy against impotence, the Mayans used it for pleasure, and it was drunk as a healing tea by the Indians of South America.
