Cinnamomum cassia is a spice obtained from the inner bark of various species of trees of the genus Cinnamomum, used in both sweet and savory foods. The term "cinnamon" also refers to the brownish color of the spice after grinding. It tastes similar to Ceylon cinnamon, but has inferior properties. As it is more abundant, it is cheaper and is the most widely sold.

In medicine, used in the form of distilled oils, it is known for 'curing' colds and flu.
